2006 Mini Cooper S John Cooper Works GP, better known as the GP1. One of only 415 imported to the states. $17.5k seems a tad high to me but when only a handful come up for sale each year it’s hard to really value these. It’s right near my Aunt too!

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

It’s the ultimate iteration of the R53 Mini. 215HP, limited slip differential, 100 lbs saved compared to the standard R53 by means of a rear seat delete, standard AC delete (it was a no cost option to add the AC back), and aluminum suspension arms unique to the GP.

I love the GPs, especially the GP1.

A bunch of these have sold on BaT recently. I actually used to park next to one in the garage at my old apartment building.

BaT had a nice flurry of 1st generation MINIs recently. On BaT they tend to go for $15-18k which is why $17.5 for a private sale seems a tad high to me. BaT tends to bring a premium a lot of the time but the GP1 might not have the status to drive that premium yet.

One of the guys at the shop I take my Mini to has a GP1. I believe he has owned it from new.

The R53 in general is my favorite new MINI, I just wish they weren't getting so old - would like to have one as a commuter, but really don't think the reliability would measure up to the job.

A/C > Heat. If they’re getting rid of A/C, get rid of all the vents, too.

Heat has a minimal weight penalty and no power penalty. AC weighs almost 40lbs and eats a bunch of power.

I almost never use AC, except for defrost . But use heat for 6 months of the year. Heat is much more important.

Sweet! R53's are great!

I’m the opposite. I only use heat to defrost the car. Even in 20 degree weather, defrost is on 72 or so to keep the windows from fogging.

Defrost automatically engages AC in order to dry the air out. It rains a lot where I live so dry air is important, but I still don't use it that much.

I’ve never been a fan (i’m irrationally angry at the idea of a hatchback with the rear seats deleted)  but they are cool looking and fantastically rare.

You can’t put humans in the back seat of a Mini to begin with.

Its an irrational anger. I hate any rear seat delete, just bugs me to see so much practicality thrown out the window for honestly, not THAT much weight savings.

Back when i had rear seats (1988 celica) I used them constantly in order to punish my friends who had displeased me but still needed a ride.

But like i said, its irrational and likely stems largely from DDing a 2-seater for the past 14 years or so.
